Van hire for students

So if your a student the choices available for moving to and from student accommodation, student halls or university campus are as follows:

  1. Hire a van

  2. Get parents to help move

  3. Move with student mates in their car

  4. Hire a van and share with 1-2 mates


I think the second option is preferred and to be honest would be my personal favorite! If mum and dad are busy or think you should sort your own life out then hiring a van with your mates would seem the next best option to keep down costs rather than a van just for yourself, certainly both are a better idea than your mates car irresponsibly overloaded and this would certainly mean far more journeys again running up costs!

Hiring a van with your mates; this way you can share the cost of both the van and the fuel, so the itinerary:

  • Choose the eldest driver this may keep the costs down and may even be the deciding factor in securing a hire in the first place, As age is a massive concern to hire companies due to the insurance companies they deal with who change policies from one year to the next.

  • Check how many seats the van has most have 3 seats.

  • The dedicated driver will need his/her full driving license and will also need to be the one who pays for the van hire as the card holder needs to be the driver.
